Half-full of Wonder, 2015
This project was the beginning of an ongoing study into Text-Art. Inspired by a mythological river, it collects quotes of the general public whom I asked through social media "What are the Wonders of your world?" The received quotes were then illustrated through creative hand-lettering to display this source of positivity to others and lead people to appreciate their own 'wonders'.
Socially Engaged Display
Giving visitors the opportunity to consider and record the wonders of their world so that they not only view the positive thinking of others but apply the same question to their own life and validate it with the written word.
Mid-term Exhibition
Developed into three-dimensional work, this exhibit showed a collection of recycled bottles, party cups and straws on salvaged wood shelving. The display brought the project more directly into a celebration of these wonders with it's 'party feel' and enabled a collection of quotes to be shared as a single piece.
'Us', Exchange Exhibition
The same collection was displayed for an exchange student exhibition a week later. For this the work was subject to a slight shuffle around and a self-portrait integrated into the work in-line with the exhibit guidelines.
